Chiang Mai, one of the fastest developed city in Thailand is becoming in favourite among nationwide and global investors who increasingly put more money to drive the city forward. Nowadays, shopping malls are built around the city to serve the more power of purchase. Let’s see the lists of shopping mall in Chiang Mai. Where is the best place for you?

1. Kad Suan Kaew

This is one of the oldest shopping mall in Chiang Mai, established in 1992. Kad Suan Kaew is well-known among foreigners and Thai teenagers who are looking for cheaper items such as clothes and food. The department store is run by Central Pattana Group with wide selections of brand as well as local business on all the four floors. The upper floor, fourth and fifth floor is bowling, Vista Cinema and Kad Theatre where shows and performances are live here. Other upper levels are the office for rent. Even though the mall is old, it is still popular as its great location, near Chiang Mai old city with public transportation to find.

2. Central Plaza Chiang Mai Airport

Established in 1987 as Tantrapan Airport Plaza, it was takeover by Central Pattana and changed the name to Central Plaza Chiang Mai Airport in 1996. With over 518 shops, the mall has been becoming popular in Chiang Mai for over 10 years, offering international and local brands by Robinson Department Store. From the basement to top, the mall is decorated in contemporary Lanna style, including northern village, a local market providing wide range of handicraft, clothes and food on the basement. IT products on the third floor are also its signature, offering high technology products in many range of price. Chiang Mai Hall, located in the back of the mall is also for shows and performances or even concerts.

3. Promenada Resort Mall

This European resort mall, administrated by ECC International Real Estate from The Netherlands is designed in contemporary resort architecture, opening on June 2013. This spacious mall has three stories and two buildings. Located kilometres away from the city, the mall is not so popular among tourists and local people even though there are free shuttle buses. As a resort mall, it focuses on the decoration and design. Shops are not as many as other malls in Chiang Mai. Rimping Super Market, Chi Chang Computer, banking offices, Toy R Us and SF Cinema City are the only signatures of this shopping mall.

4. Central Festival Chiang Mai

This futuristic six-stories shopping mall claims itself as the largest shopping mall in northern Thailand. Situated on over 250,000 sq.m. of land and five stories, provides wide range of department store, Central Food Hall, sports shop and over 300 stores with modern and fashion brands from all over the world. This shopping mall also offer high technology of cinema by Major Cineplex with IMAX 3-D, Ice Skating, Fitness centre and fun planet.

5. MAYA Lifestyle Shopping Center

A modest shopping centre in Chiang Mai with over 3,000 million baht of investment by MA-YA Development is offering seven stories and 220 shops. Examples of attractions: CAMP, a recent favourite library, opening 24 hour a day, SFX Cinema, a modern cinema in Chiang Mai and don’t miss the basement level with wide range of delicious food and Rimping Department Store.

6. Star Avenue Lifestyle Mall 

Located next to Chiang Mai Bus Terminal, Star Avenue Lifestyle Mall is an open-space creative mall in Chiang Mai with modern shops and restaurants, for example McDonald’s, Subway, Tom N Toms Coffee, Rimping Supermarket and more. Not only  in the day time, the night time is also lively with rooftop pubs; Warp Bar and S Wine as well as international beer station; Beer Terminals. Undoubtedly, many passengers from the bus station would like to chill here before they start the journey.
