Chiang Mai Entertainment

Everyone likes party and hanging out with friends or families. This city is also amazing for the nightlife lover. Or even you can find some place to enjoy at noon by going some shopping at the big department store that provided everything on there.

Start at Tapae Gate, traditionally considered the main entrance to the ancient moated city. Tha Pae Gate restored to its former glory, forms the entrance to an area which has become the place for top end handicraft boutiques, antique shops, restaurants, bars and secondhand bookstores. A great place to browse.

(What to drink when you aer in Chiang Mai.?)

 Bars    Clubs    Pubs

Chiang Mai's nightlife. There are discos, karaoke bars, and live music everywhere. The busiest nightlife zones are near Tapae GateLoi Kroh Road and along Charoenrat Road on the eastern bank of the Ping River.

Monkey Club
Enjoy live pop, jazz and acoustic music. The Monkey Club is a trendy Thai restaurant/bar with both a beautifully lit tropical garden to sit in and a chic indoor area. A small sushi bar was recently adde .Nimmanhaemin Rd., Soi 9 053 226997 [ 5 p.m. - 1 a.m.]

Warm-Up Café
This relaxed place is filled with Thai trendsters and a smattering of Westerners. Hang out in the pretty decked courtyard area with lots of seating and various bars, or dance manically to the latest tunes in the two glass enclosed dance floors. Regular live music is a feature here too. A popular place for young, trendy locals and university students. If you are looking to get away from tourist bars, this is a great venue. Live music & DJ. 053 306253, 01 9932985 40 Nimmanhaemin Rd. [ 6 p.m.-1a.m.]

UN Irish Pub
This is a comfortable place with the food area downstairs, and the bar upstairs. There's nothing particularly Irish here other than some kitsch on the walls and a dark-green décor. Heineken, Carlsberg and Thai-brewed beers are on tap, and the Guinness is bottled. There's live music on Tuesday and Friday, plus quiz nights and a TV for watching football.Popular expat and backpacker party place Tel. 053 214554Bubbles [5p.m. - 1 a.m.]

Bubbles
The newly renovated Bubbles is still as popular as ever. The dance floor heaves with a mix of tourists remembering how to do rave moves, locals, some ex-pats, and pros. The entry ticket exchanges for a beer or a scarily sweet cocktail. [5p.m. - 1 a.m.]

Spicy
People pile into Spicy when everything else has shut. Not the most salubrious place, it is nevertheless fun after 02:00 - don't go before, it is seediness central.

Heaven Beach
Behind the building that houses the Yoy Pocket is a cluster of rustic outdoor bars catering to backpackers and expats. In this area is the rustic Heaven Beach which often features live local bands.

Riverside Bar & Restaurant
In a twinkly setting on Mae Nam Ping, this is one of the longest-running live music venues in Chiang Mai. Two cover bands play at either end of the rambling wooden buildings nightly. It's usually packed with both foreigners and Thais on weekends, so arrive early to get a table on the veranda overlooking the river. There are two indoor bars, both full of regulars, and the food is reliably good. Has two storages featuring rock and pop covers by surprisingly good bands. However, this is a real favourite with tourists, so get there early or be prepared to stand. There's also a daily dinner cruise. Charoenrat Road. [5p.m. - 1 a.m.]

Good View
Good View changes bands frequently and is quite popular. It also has a restaurant . [5p.m. - 1 a.m.]

Rasta Café
A great place for Thais and farang alike who appreciate the good spirit of reggae music and want to hang out with similar minded people around a camp fire or swinging off the vast branches of a tree.

Tara Bar Pub and Restaurant
Tarabar is the latest restaurant to open on the banks of the Ping River. With a fabulous range of acoustic and jazz tunes you are afforded a near perfect, tranquil dining experience at their open-air terrace.

 Karaoke

Karaoke
Karaoke is one of activities which very popular among teenagers. In Chiang Mai, there are the karaoke boxes for them with a very cheap cost (use a coin) and karaoke rooms for people who want privacy with a little bit higher cost. Surely they have both Thai and international songs.

 Live Music

Le Brasserie

Le Brasserie is a popular late-night spot to listen to live bands play rock and blues. Expect to hear Hendrix, Cream, Dylan, Marley, and other 1960s and '70s classics. Food service is available inside the bar or out the back by the river.

Jazzy Music
North Gate Jazz is one place for the Jazz lover to hang out and jam the music in this restaurant. It’s just a small shop to drink and play on your styles. That’s cool I went here on Tuesday which is a Jam Day. I talked a little bit with two musicians who have been in Chiang Mai for quite a long time. Let’s enjoy the jazz, one popular thing in Chiang Mai.

Guitar Maestro
Just relax with the aged 60 years guitar maestro who many people always talk about his playing. Thus I visited his restaurant named "Kau Tok" where he was fully presenting his guitar. And as well I asked him about his life as one music guru. The reason people call him "Ajarn" (teacher) is his 30 years experienced of being teacher in high school, and that's great I used to be his student. Finally, music makes him relax and being a maestro though he's just beginning after retiree by intension.

Sao Chiang Mai
Houn Soontaree Vechanont, north music singer in Chiang Mai. This place is very beautiful and relaxing atmosphere. Mrs. Soontaree Vechanont sings her song for us, this song is named Chan Mee Kwam Rak Ma Hai or in English - I bring love for you.
