CMU Annual Walk to Doi Suthep
Chiang Mai University will hold its well known annual walk to Doi Suthep ritual as an orientation for freshman students. The walk will start from the foot of Doi Suthep at 5.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. More than 10,000 students and alumni will participate. 1st Annual Chiang Mai International Jazz & Blues Festival
The Chiang Mai Jazz society has today, officialy announced the green light for the much anticipated, "1st Annual Chiang Mai International Jazz & Blues Festival" After several months of negotiations, Society Directors, Brad Ferguson and Jamie Ruben have announced the details of what promises to be a highlight on the cultural calender for Chiang Mai.
The festival will be held at the 700 year stadium at the sports complex and is scheduled for the weekend of Feb. 9 - 11 2007. Tickets will be available through ticket master as well as several local outlets including The Riverside, The Gallery, The Cottage, Good view. etc.
The roster of high profile international talent tentativley scheduled to appear include such respected names as John Schofield, The Mingus Big Band, David Sanborn, Jesse Cook, Pat Metheny,Al Dimeola, and Joni Mitchell. Creative Director Ruben is quoted as saying "I am currently in negotiations with a number of other very recognizable names in regards to appearing , musicians have been very receptive to coming to Chiang Mai"
Aside from the line up of scheduled international stars the Festival will feature a number of local and national groups from Chiang Mai as well as Bangkok.
