Baantawai Village is the village of wood sculptures and wood-carved products made at Baantawai Village, Hangdong District, Chiang Mai Province under the present theme - Baantawai, the Amazing woodcarving village.
Talking about Lanna Kingdom or Chiang Mai province where Doi Suthep, Doi Inthanon and the
Night Bazaar etc. are well known, there is the other place that people enjoy shopping very much. This is Baantawai village.
Baantawai is the renowned source of fine handicrafts of Chiang Mai. It has created numerous wood sculptures and woodcarvings both for domestic sale and export with which Baantawai earned reputation as the village of woodcarving.
Baantawai, Hangdong, Chiang Mai is best known for its wood sculptures and woodcarvings or wood-based merchandises because the handicraft products of Baantawai are meticulously hand-made with skilled craftsmen and its 40-year-long experience in wood sculpturing and Baantawai woodcarving expertise. Consequently, the name Baantawai has been disseminated all over the world. Therefore, it was awarded OTOP Village of Thailand by the Department of Community Development, the Interior Ministry thanks to the One Tambon One Product Policy in 2004. It was also awarded the first OTOP Tourism Village of Thailand from the Ministry of Tourism and Sports.

In the northwest desert where countless prosperous dynasties have flourish and fallen, there is rumour of a buried treasure of unbelievable riches. A group of mysterious guardians have kept the map to the location of the treasure safe, until a fierce rivalry erupts. A notorious international crime group, The Company hunt down the map keepers and before they manage to secure it, the keeper passes the map to a young chivalrous man Ciao Fei (Jay Chou). Ciao Fei is forced to give up the map to save the live of his mentor's daughter Lan Ting (Lin Chi Ling). Teaming up with Hua Ding Bang (a famous archaeologist) and Lan Ting they embark on a dangerous journey to recover the map and fight to protect the ancient treasure.
