After you’ve seen the beauty of the nature in Pai, there’s one more activity that the locals loves it, which is a ‘scarab beetles fighting’.

There’re many different kind of scarab beetles, a common scarab beetle, a three-horned scarab beetle and a five-horned scarab beetle, only the male beetle have horns. Naturally, their mating season is between August to September and that’s when this annual activity begins, the locals would bring out their well-trained beetle to fight.

The beetle fighting begins by matching-up the same size opponent, and place the competitors next to the female one to induce the fight, the one that walk away will lose the fight.

Tourists who interested in such activities can enjoy and participate in many villages around August to September or you can join us as well.
