Frommer's Review
Just a short walk south and west of Wat Phra Sing, Huen Phen is a good, authentic local choice when temple touring. They have an English menu, but I recommend peeking in the open kitchen and seeing what looks good to you. It's a pretty limited menu though. They of course have kao soi, Chiang Mai's famed noodle stew, but try the specialty: Khanom Jeen Namngeua, a beef stew in a hearty broth. It'll keep you warm when those storms come blowingin off of Doi Suthep. One small dining room has air-conditioning. You can't beat the prices here.
