The Ministry of Information and Communication Technology has joined forces with the Office of His Majesty’s Principal Private Secretary to develop an information and communication technology in the “Information and Communication Technology Development Project” to publicize His Majesty’s speeches, addresses and royal activities through digital archiving for prompt and fast searching, aimed at honoring His Majesty on the auspicious occasion of His 80th Birthday, 5 December 2007.
For this undertaking, units in the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, namely the Meteorological Department, the National Statistical Office, TOT Company Limited, CAT Telecom (Public) Company Limited, Thailand Post Company Limited, and the Software Industry Promotion Agency (Public Organization) or SIPA are working in cooperation, with SIPA as the main coordinator. Information to be publicized will be in 2 parts, the first part on royal speeches and addresses, archived from the year 1950 onwards, and the second part, on royal activities archived from the year 1934 onwards. After the completion of electronic recording of information, the Software Industry Promotion Agency or SIPA will launch a website to publicize the mentioned information, which interested persons can search in various forms, such as by keywords, to facilitate their searching. SIPA aims to turn over the project to the Office of His Majesty’s Principal Private Secretary in early November 2007, and the website to be accessible by the general public towards the end of 2007, as an activity to celebrate the auspicious occasion of His Majesty’s 80th Birthday Anniversary, 5 December 2007.
It is truly gratifying for the Thai people to be able to search for historical records of the nation more easily. Also, information obtained is accurate, based on original manuscripts, and can be used as primary data, to be publicized with a royal permission.
